Fire risk assessment replaced fire regulations in April 2006

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

From October 2006 fire certificates will cease legal status and it will become compulsory for every business in the UK, big or small, employers, landlords, building owners, (responsible person) to carry out a fire risk assessment of their workplace including fire training and maybe held responsible at the time of inspection or post incident.

Fire Risk Assessment is an important part of fire safety in any building, and it is similar to other kinds of Risk Assessment. This assessment was previously carried out by the Fire Service who now will be used to do spot-checks to see if buildings comply.
